My wife surprised me in a good way and said she will be driving with me and we are bringing Tiny Overlord with us. Having them to cheer me on will help me push through. We were both sick for a week. Carrie still has a sinus infection, but started antibiotics today so we hope she will be feeling a lot better by tomorrow. I am just today getting some energy back and the body aches are mostly gone. But I don’t want to miss the Grip Champs no matter what.

Also want to thank Dan Wagman for the great advice on healing my middle finger skin! It is tender, but way better than my healing has been for the last decade. Putting light pressure on the skin has been the exact opposite of what I would normally do after a bad skin tear. But as soon as I started using a lightly knurled handle (gently pulling against it with my middle finger) my healing began to accelerate. I now think it will at least hold for a token 225lb middle finger deadlift. And I am grateful for that!

Wow, Dan! I knew you were strong on the MF (and pretty much everything) lifts, those are some big numbers – especially considering your bodyweight.

I am pretty disappointed after tearing my right middle finger skin pretty severely a few days ago. I pulled 380 to my knees and then a sudden tiny shift of the bar obliterated my skin. Dropped the bar and that was the end of my Goerner Club ambition. I KNEW that I should’ve just saved it all up for the contest. So it serves me right to have to suck it up and try to heal up enough to pull 135lbs and not bleed all over the place.

Between me and RJ, we posted the meet on the Iron Mind Forum and the Grip Board. There have been lots of views and favorable comments. Hopefully there will be some new faces showing up.

It’ll be nice to see you and Ruth there, Dan! I still miss the old Super Grip Challenge contests. That was the first time I met you and your dogs.

I’ve heard that the defending Champion, Laverne Myers, will be there!

It’s gonna be a fun day of lifting at the Dino Gym.

It is definitely going to be a lot of fun! I would love to see Rudy again one of these days. I think my wife Carrie is sweet on him…and I’m totally okay with that. Guy is super nice.

Worked for me too! I swear the option wasn’t there for me the other day though…or maybe I’m just getting old.

By the way, how were you able to post a new thread? That button no longer exists for me?

Same here. I can not create new topics.

The forum is not letting me create a new topic. But I will be at the 2017 Grip Champs. With bells on. Glad to see the Middle Fingers Deadlift is making a repeat appearance. At least I’ll be near the top on one event.

Well, the big write-up I did has disappeared from the computer I put it on. So I am redoing it. Blarg.

Yes, it was a ton of fun! I am in the process of writing up the contest for my blog, but I will submit it to Al for the blog here if it passes muster. I’m waiting for the contest results to be posted for some of the specifics – like the ages of competitors. I am always impressed with the age spread at the USAWA contests, and this one didn’t disappoint. Youngest competitor was? Oldest was, I’m guessing – Art.

Eric and I had an epic Thor’s Hammer showdown that he won hands down – or UP – since it was Thor’s Hammer.

I am still on for the contest. But I injured my left forearm today doing something unrelated to the OTSM training. When I checked to see how how much it affected my strength on the Saxon Snatch it was bad news. Barely held on to 60lbs an hour after feeling a pop in my extensor – last week I got 95lbs on the SS. Now it hurts to grip anything tightly. But I’m not overly concerned since I will be using my right hand on Thor’s Hammer. And the Dinnie Lift is going to hurt, but not as much as the Saxon Snatch. I do wonder if my injury has anything to do with a water depletion I’m doing. On day 3 now and it is very low carb too. So I’m super fun to be around right now, lol.

I can post directions. GPS is no good when coming to my place. Pueblo is the Road, but GPS does not have that on there. I would have no idea what the GPS coordinates would be.

Good, thanks! I don’t know the GPS coordinates to MY house either. But you strike me as the type of guy who might actually know his house’s GPS coordinates. I mean that as a compliment.
