Hi Randy, I think the rules for repetition are pretty vague and I expect we will need to update them at the next meeting. So I can tell you how we’re doing it at our club, but none of this is official.
Time limit is whatever it says for the rules of that particular lift. Since VIII.31 specifies 2 minutes to BEGIN the lift, I don’t think that limits the time to complete the lift or set. Do reps til failure.
In the repetition records we have done so far, we have considered a 2-second pause as the maximum “rest”, any more than that ends the attempt. Releasing the bar or implement with one or both hands ends the attempt.
