I know exactly what you’re talking about, placing the ring up further in the hand. I used to do that as well but it always seemed to want to slip further down the hand, so I just let it. It also seemed that holding it up that far made the skin where all my callouses are get pinched, which was painful. I still do it from time to time as an old habit. I practiced weight for height recently and the skin on my palm towards my fingers hurt for days.

You must of been there Sunday Travis, sorry I missed you. We came out for just a bit, but couldn’t stay too long.

I was out throwing when you all were walking around. Scott came out and talked with me a bit. I was there just a bit on saturday before the storm hit, enough to watch your caber domination.

Roger – I’ll have to get a picture of the tat someday and post it up. It took a few sessions to complete and cost me a fortune. The 4th pic above is the actual picture the artist used for it.

I stopped after the 3rd lift, right when I was getting warmed up, because a piece of my thumb got sheared right off. That part of my thumb was sensitive while lifting for 6 months after that. I’m sure there’s a bit of DNA on those stones. I took such detailed pics because I told my training partners that if I realized my goal and lifted them that I would have a picture of them tattooed onto my arm, and I did.

And Dave, the wife and I are already talking about another little weekend getaway to the games next year. We enjoyed it, though I had a sub-par day of throwing. And I did get to play with the drill bits, I was the one who carried them back to the sheaf standards.

Apparently I really don’t know how to make pictures smaller, though I did figure out how to attach them.

Yeah, the kid who did that jerk was unreal.

I heard this morning through one of my training partners who was there, that he had heard the kid has a 395 C&J.

                  I’m too fat for pullups.

And Dave, I’m pretty sure all my injuries of the summer have healed (fingers crossed) so I’m coming to McPherson Games. I’m going to try to throw this weekend.

3″ pinch? Looks nasty, but fun. I want to try and make this competition. Not sure how well I’d do but it looks fun.

                      What’s a block bar?

Maybe that’s a dumb question, but I’ve never heard of that. Are we talking just pieces of steel at different weights or something?

Sounds good. Not sure about 2 seconds, that’s quite some time, maybe just a pause. More so for selfish reasons, HAHA. I never tried to hold them long but went back down upon lockout, not sure any of mine got a full 2 seconds. Next trip I will hold them for awhile.

I never messed with stones till recently, but you can squat, row, deadlift… They work the core, back, arms, legs, grip, hips…

But I do love my rack

Steve – have you ever seen the old footage when Kazmaier was “carrying” them across the bridge? I believe it was one of the Pure Strength competitions. It looked horrible, as if they were going to completely crumble. He’d thrust the large one and then drop it, repeatedly. I’ve wondered how fragile they were and wondered if putting them on the concrete hurt them more than being off to the side in gravel.

Recently on the Travel Chanel, the show Dhani Jones Tackles the Globe featured the Inver Stone and it dropped from shoulder height onto the road. I shuddered, thinking it may chip.

I’d love to hear what David Webster comes up with when the time comes. I assume it’s due to the trouble I started on another forum. I do agree though, the “real” lift is strapless.

I’d have to say rack as well since I squat a bit. I do everything in my rack.

If I could choose something else, it’d be a stone.

I use the Iron Woody bands (just because they’re cheaper than Jump Stretch bands) and have only used them for squats and deadlifts. I’ll use them in a reverse set up every once in a while. I like the smaller bands to help warm up before lifting, particularly for dislocates to stretch out the shoulders and chest.

Actually, right next to my lifting platform in my garage is the skull from the buck I shot last fall. It’s been sitting there since November when I boiled it.
