That is marvelous. One would think that Al would know what a squat rack is for?

Great stories. Nothing like a cool home gym

One shouldn’t do an exercise just to do an exercise, it must be based on a specific purpose.
My specific purpose in doing any exercise is to get cock strong and hopefully someday become a bad Mo-Dicker. I just thought Id throw that in there. That being said, I felt a complete and thorough distain for this whilst attempting it at the record day.

Good stuff. I need some more. Right now, I use old 2 liter crates to stack for this purpose

Thanks guys.
Al, we had a couple summers where 2 a days were morning and evening, so we went and picthed hay all afternoon between practices. We came to evening practice sweaty with hay all over us, but never missed a beat

Great article Dan. I could not agree more. Where I possess a few steel logs and many spherical atlas stones, I do not agree with the level of standardization in strongman these days is very off putting to me. I loved Thoms old meets where our “log” was an old railroad tie. We lifted anvils, field stones and dragged big gunny sacks. I did understand the need for steel logs in smaller local meets as they are easy to have fabricated, and would endure a guys weekly training and still make it through competitions. But there have been steel logs in WSM!?!?! Are you kidding me? Have you seen the couple years where they had IFSA wordls? The feats were awesome, but I didn’t care to watch, because of the standardized equipment and pristine conditions. Furthering in that direction will see the demise of a sport I love.

Funny thing is, that happened in like my third and fourth time doing them. Crazy. I grabbed it and it would roll right out. Unfortunately, with age and injuries, my speed has been the first thing to go.

I would not be opposed to including a second set of criteria for postals in the rule book.

I am with Chad. I do the postals for shits and giggles and to support the USAWA, so I lose no sleep if I lose to someone who was judged by an uncertified official. I believe that it is worth it to help get people involved. However, if there is a group who continually lifts being judged by uncertified officials (multiple people in the same group), it would seem like a small thing to ask that one or a couple get certified to continue on judging each other. I am for the furthering of the cause of the USAWA, but I am also for preserving the integrity of our meets.
