good deal, i just wanted to make sure i was training correctly.
USA! USA!
thanks for the input guys, i really appreciate it!
i will absolutely try the walking hands of death, that sounds awesome. i had two reasons for trimming it: 1) i’m not sure how much weight it will hold (probably more thank i can lift with it, but hey, i’m an optimist), so i figured the closer the plates are to the center the better. 2) if i trim back about 16 inches from the threads on each end, i can cap the ends and have two 2″ vert bars.
nice looking site thom! btw, i’m ripping off parts of the JWC logo for the welcome mat. hope that’s cool.

also, highland games are a little different. so far as i know, the USAWA doesn’t attract the number of spectators that throwing does. highland athletes are putting on a bit more of a show. i also think it will be harder to persuade novice lifters to join if they are required to wear a singlet. i can see requiring it for national-level meets or higher, but i don’t think i could have gotten more than one or two lifters at my meet if singlets were required. but i do intend to get one at some point; i think they look cool.

yeah i had a feeling this wouldn’t be news to most of you…it’s more for those of us under 40…:)
you’re right, i didn’t know that. i’ve always respected powerlifting, but at the same time i just have no interest in trying it myself.
i would love to hear from our records keeper as well!
we had a great meet, thanks in no small part to mike murdock. report will be out soon!
i have an older model of this that my father in law gave us after he ran it over with his truck. screen is cracked, but it still works! screen might be a little small, but they are cheap, mountable on a tripod (mine is anyway), & easy as can be to upload onto a computer. you just plug it in with a USB then copy paste files. screen might be a little small though. i have pretty bad eyesight & old prescriptions, but i can still get by with it.

just watched them, those were some great lifts! congrats on that big anderson squat.
i can still make it. i’m really looking forward to this meet, i love the one arm stuff!
