Mike, to answer your questions, yes and yes.

          From the rules:
Hand spacing and grip are of the lifter’s choosing and may be altered on the bar during the lift. The hands may be removed from the bar during the lift

It’ll be good to see you again Mike! Been a long time. I chased your one-hand thumbless-grip deadlift record for a long time. I have the feeling you could’ve upped it whenever you wanted though but you had other big lifting to do. I’ll see you at Nationals man.

                Hi there folks!

Long time lurker, first time poster….I hope all of my old usawa buddies are doing well….

I had a question that pertains to one of the lifts at nationals, the thick bar continental. Actually 2 questions:

                1. Can we use a staggered grip, one hand over and one hand under the bar?
                2. Can we remove a hand from the bar at any time?

Just a couple of questions. thanks folks, and I’m looking forward to seeing all of you in K-ville!

Mike, glad you are coming! I’m not sure if this needs to be said, but to complete the lift the hands must be brought back to the same position as in a clean. I know you probably knew that but any others, just wanted to explain.

PS Get your entries in everybody!!!!!!!
