Greetings! I want to encourage everyone to give the 250 in Honor of 250th a go. I decided to play with the hip lift. And it’s been interesting and fun to try to figure out how to incorporate 250 while making it challenging and still possible for me to do. It sounds like different lifters are approaching this challenge in a variety of different ways. Lifts are good through July 11. Here’s the link to the “rules” https://www.usawa.com/250-to-honor-the-250th/ I am really looking forward to see what lifts and/or combination of lifts everyone comes up with!

I had fun with this and was really impressed with the results from around the country. Congratulations to Frank’s Barbell Club that set a baseline for Hip Lift loading and then athletes could compete on time. I did not even consider mixed lifts in the style of Abe and Jeff of Clark’s Gym.

Personally, I challenged myself with 250 deadlifts and selected 150 pound loading based on Colorado’s 150th celebration this year. I targeted 5 reps every minute which allowed for about 45 seconds of rest between sets. This worked fine for the first 20 minutes and then I had to slow down. Eventually, I finished in just over an hour. The volume revealed a huge gap in my fitness. I was exhausted, faced extreme delayed onset muscle soreness, and questioned my life choices. After about 5 days, I was feeling better and am now considering future repetition challenges.
