Time to Renew

by Al Myers

Hard to believe that another year of the USAWA is coming to an end!  This has been a great year for our organization.  Now is the time to renew your USAWA membership so you can take advantage of a full year’s membership.  I want to remind everyone that membership in the USAWA is for “the calendar year”.  Thus the logical time to renew membership is at the beginning of the year – January FIRST!

I have already started recording the 2020 membership on the membership roster.  Also, I include the “date beside the name” to remind everyone when you joined.  I want there to be “special distinction” of those that register early.  Any registration before January 1st, 2020 will receive that date as their date of registering.  I hope this encourages early registration.

Individual Membership Applications are found at the top of the website in the “About Us” under “forms and applications”.    Please fill out the application fully in ledge-able print, and sign it.  Make checks/money orders out to the USAWA and send them to me (address on form).  Once I receive the application (with the $25 fee), I will list your name on the Membership Roster.  It doesn’t get any easier than that!!!

Membership Drive

Tis the time of the year for our yearly membership drive!

As most of you know, membership in the USAWA runs per calendar year, thus starting on January 1st and ending on December 31st.  It doesn’t matter when you register during the year – your membership ends when the current year is up. So it pays to register early thus being able to be a member of the USAWA for the entire year.

I have already received the FIRST membership for the year 2019.  The other day Dennis Mitchell sent me his dues and is now listed on the membership roster.  EVERY YEAR Dennis registers before the current year is up.  It is easy to register – fill out a membership application, write a check for your dues, and mail it to me. Once I get it I will place your name on the membership roster.  It is easy to confirm your membership as all you need to do is check the roster on this website and look for your name.

Also, I want to mention here (and I hope Dennis is ok with this) that Dennis always sends in a little extra money to the organization to show his support on top of his yearly dues.  That is sure appreciated, but please don’t feel like you have to do that.  However, our membership dues barely cover our yearly expenses so if you want to help out the USAWA a little more and be like Dennis, it will be put to good uses in paying our bills and bettering our organization.

Last year we had 21 members register early.  I would like to top that this year.  To add a little incentive I plan to send everyone a little gift that sends in their dues before January 1st.  I will keep the gift a secret and thus be a surprise for you when you get it!

Membership Renewal Time!

It’s that time of the year – time to renew your USAWA membership!  I want to remind everyone that membership in the USAWA is for the calendar year (meaning Jan 1st to Dec 31st).  So there’s no reason to wait to join as you might as well enjoy a full years worth of membership versus less if you join at a later time in the year.  This is how it has always been in the USAWA, and for good reason. I have heard complaints from lifters joining late in the fall that feel like they’ve been shorted.  Well, this is my opinion on this.  Why if you are doing your one and only meet in December every year while the other guy is doing his one and only meet in Jan should you not have to buy a full year membership like the other guy?

I always like it when lifters register BEFORE the first of January.  I just recieved the FIRST membership of 2018.  It came from JIM MALLOY, the great lifter from Cleveland who has been a long time supporter of the USAWA.  Jim is always one of the first to get me his check. Plus Jim does every year what very few do – he sends a little extra to the organization in addition to his membership dues.  Now please don’t think I’m begging for extra funds as the USAWA is very financially sound – but it is sure appreciated!!!

Membership applications are located in “Forms and Applications”.

Time to renew!

It’s time to renew your USAWA membership! I want to remind everyone that membership in the USAWA runs for a calendar year – Jan 1st to the end of December.  So far I have only one person who has sent me his 2016 membership dues! That lifter is the “one and only” Jim Malloy.

Please include a properly filled out membership application with your dues.  These forms are easily found under the tab About Us.  Just click on “forms and applications”.  Dues at $25 are a bargain.  Membership dues in the USAWA are our main source of income, and all the money goes back to the membership. This money pays for our yearly awards, drug testing, and the website fees.  Membership allows you to compete in any of our sanctioned events, and even covers “joint membership” in the IAWA.
